Hotel guests relocated during SWAT standoff in east Charlotte

Hotel guests were relocated during an east Charlotte SWAT standoff that ended without incident Saturday, police said.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police initially responded to an armed robbery on Four Winds Drive, off Albemarle Road, at around 6:55 p.m. Saturday.

While looking for the suspect, officers found the suspect’s car at the InTown Suites extended-stay hotel on Albemarle Road, police said, but the car was empty.

SWAT officers and negotiators set up a perimeter around the hotel and tried to contact the suspect, and hotel guests were relocated as a precaution, police said.

The suspect, 48-year-old David Terry Jamison, was eventually arrested without incident.

Jamison has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony breaking and entering and possession of a firearm by a felon, jail records show.
